This is one of the more wild rumours to have spread across the Internet, but it is intriguing none the less...

Among several rumours about the upcoming next generation of iPods is one that could please some Nintendo fans. A job application for an embedded game developer was advertised in February 2005, and recent patent filings have included a picture of an iPod with a game-pad interface instead of a click-wheel. Rumour has it that Nintendo is working with Apple to allow downloaded content (possible from the Virtual Console service) to be playable via gamer's iPods.

Could a partnership between Apple and Nintendo really be so out of the question? Some critics would argue no, though until we hear more on this it is most definately nothing but rumour.
