Rumour: Mario To Kick Off At Leipzig?

Could a sequel to sleeper hit Super Mario Strikers be in the works for Wii?

Mario sports titles have always seen mixed praise. Some believe that Nintendo may be 'milking the Mario name' by releasing many sports titles. However, many have enjoyed these titles, such as Mario Tennis and Mario Golf.

One such Mario sport title that received mixed criticism is Super Mario Strikers. Having sold about 500,000 in the United States since around last December, the game was dubbed to have lacked depth in the single player mode, but it more than made up for it in the multiplayer mode.

Could the Wii see the sequel to this title? IGN seems to think so. Their sources have revealed that development of this game is already underway, and may even be shown later this month at the Games Convention in Leipzig!

Rumors have been rife that Nintendo plan to show 5 new titles for Wii at Leipzig. Nintendo seems to be pretty tight-lipped with regards to this information, and it is uncertain whether or not they will reveal any information about these titles prior to Leipzig.

More news on this as soon as it comes in.
