Could the DS Lite see a May release in the States, alongside New Super Mario Bros.? Head inside for the latest rumblings...

Gaming site IGN is reporting they've heard rumours that Nintendo of America are prepping the DS Lite for a release on May 7th, alongside the confirmed release date for New Super Mario Bros.

It would make sense to launch the Lite alongside what is sure to be a must-have title for the system, and apparently retail sources have been suggesting Nintendo have this date circled as launch day. Of course, nothing has been confirmed by Nintendo as yet, but the date makes sense - mid-way between the Japanese release next week at the beginning of March, and the rumoured August launch date over here in Europe.
