Capcom was set to announce a Monster Hunter game for 3DS earlier this month, if rumours are to be believed...

With the March 11th earthquake and following tsunami having devastated huge areas of Japan, it goes without saying that various public and press events from all industries would have been cancelled in affected areas this month. One of the latest whispers regarding what could have been relates to a possible Monster Hunter title for 3DS.

Some rather tenuous links have been made by a 8-4 podcast to reach a still plausible conclusion that Capcom were set to announce a Monster Hunter game for 3DS at the annual Monster Hunter Festa event earlier this month.

A reveal of a new Monster Hunter game at a franchise event is at best likely. Whether that title was headed for 3DS is a little shakier, although members of Capcom have in the past expressed their interest in such a concept.

Monster Hunter is one of the most lucrative franchises in Japan. Monster Hunter 3 saw a western release exclusively on Wii last year.
