Rumour: New Indiana Jones DS Info?

Some more information has apparently surfaced on the new Indiana Jones game for the Nintendo DS, including confirmation of this adventure's magical artifact.

Yesterday, a PEGI rating popped up which surprisingly confirmed a new Indiana Jones game for the DS and PSP. We learned the title of the game, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, but not much else. However, Kotaku have obtained some new information from their sources which give us a little bit more insight into the mystery Indy project.

First of all, Staff of Kings isn't the 3D adventure we saw a few years ago which utilised the groundbreaking Euphoria physics engine. Instead, this new adventure is apparently being developed by Montreal-based developer A2M for LucasArts (though Activision appear as the publisher on the PEGI rating).

The game revolves around the staff of Moses, an artifact which Moses used in the Bible to separate the Red Sea to allow his people to pass. Yes, we paid attention in religious studies. In the place of Nazis, we instead have a nameless evil cult of book-burners (as with Lego Indiana Jones), and one of the game's action segments takes place on a twin-balloon zeppelin.

Interestingly, Kotaku's sources also claim that PS2 and Wii versions of the game were in development, but we don't know the status of those projects.

This story is a rumour for now, but we should find out more when LucasArts decide to announce the game officially.
