Rumour: New Super Mario All-Stars On The Way?

The latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu reveals Super Mario Collection in a list of game trademarks.

Super Mario Collection (known as Super Mario All-Stars in Europe) was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993 and contained updated versions of four classic Mario games. Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels were all included on the cartridge with improved graphics and sound to take advantage of the SNES hardware.

The new trademark may suggest that this original compilation could arrive on the Virtual Console in the future. The NES versions of these games are already available for download on the Wii but the enhanced SNES compilation would certainly be of interest to many, particularly those who have never experienced any of these Mario games in any form (there must be someone!).

There are other possible outcomes of the trademark, however. It is possible that it could indicate a DSi release of some kind such as a download on the DSi store of the SNES Super Mario All-Stars or perhaps an all new collection containing Game Boy titles such as Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins and Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3.

Obviously, there are many possibilities as to what this trademark could imply. Feel free to speculate in the comments section below and stay tuned for more information on the Super Mario Collection trademark in the future.
