Harmonix and MTV's music powerhouse to rock on the Wii?
Recent reports have seemed to suggest that a focus group trying out the upcoming Rock Band game on 360 and PS3 were told that the game was also set to hit the Wii.
For those who are not familiar to the Rock Band franchise it is a new joint effort by Harmonix and MTV to capitalize on the popularity of the Guitar Hero franchise, not by simply copying it however but by taking it much further. Incorporating many instruments, original music and online play.
Rock Band will require multiple musical disciplines to be learnt, such as guitar playing, drumming and singing. Another bit of information to appear from the the focus group was that they were asked what they thought of a pack which would cost $200 and include the game, a wireless guitar, a drum kit and a microphone, which gives an indication as to commitment both in terms of money and the time you will spend trying to master all the aspects of the game.
Apart from this first hand account by a tipster who partook in a focus group there are also other signs that a Wii version is in the works, with Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos stating: "We will, at some time, bring Rock Band to every [important] platform," and that "I think the Wiimote is something that holds enormous promise."
Now if the Wii isn't an important platform, we don't know what is, and with his acceptance of the Wii-mote as having enormous promise, its surely only a matter of time before we're all rocking on the Wii.
