The Sonic series is rumoured to be coming to the Wii U, either with Sonic Generations or a brand new title.

After a lot of speculation and rumours that Sonic Generations wouldn't be headed to a Nintendo console it was confirmed a few months ago that it would be released on the Nintendo 3DS. However, TSSZ News reports that a Sega employee has told them that it could come out on the Wii U.

Sonic Generations brings together classic and contemporary Sonic styles to celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary. According to TSSZ News the game could be ported to Nintendo's next console in time for its launch, due to take place some point next year. However, sales of Sonic Generations must first surpass Sega's internal expectations.

Failing this however Sega is said to be working on a Sonic game for the console that will once again be designed specifically for it, similar to how Sonic Colours was designed for the Wii and DS. While we are sure Sega will be working on a Sonic game for the Wii U until it is confirmed by the company themselves we will treat everything as rumour.
