Rumour: Wii US Release Date and Price Revealed?

News has come in from our sister site AMN Wii concerning a tentative release date and price for the Wii in the United States. According to sources within IBM the console will launch Sunday 12th November 2006. However, this may not be a final release date it may in fact launch late October or 2nd November.

The Wii is also set to launch in both black and white and retail for $229.99 (or �120/�180) and as with previous Nintendo consoles the console will be region locked.

In terms of hardware the Wii's CPU cache will be far more than the GameCube has to offer, with 256KB L1 and 512KB L2 cache. Some reports say that the CPU will be a the 750CL, part of the 750GX series from IBM.

Nintendo hope to manufacture 5.5 million Wii units by the end of the year. After the positive response from this years E3 Nintendo boosted numbers significantly to try to meet demand.
