A job listing for YouTube seems to suggest that they are working on something for home consoles.

Google has posted a job listing for YouTube that has piqued the interest of the gaming world. The listing states that the candidate must possess "deep technical knowledge of Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and/or Nintendo Wii".

The position, as a Game Console Software Engineer, requires the candidate to work towards next generation games consoles to "build the next generation game-console-based TV experience with YouTube video content". It seems to primarily focus on the experimentation, design and implementation of in-console YouTube software.

However, as this is just a job listing and not an official announcement by Google there is no need to get too excited as of yet. The listing could be misinterpreted and even if it is not it states they are working on the next generation of consoles. As none of the companies have even announced their next consoles yet this software will not be seen in the near future.
