Ryan Reynolds, star of Deadpool, Green Lantern and Two Guys and a Girl is set to voice the titular Pikachu in the upcoming live action Detective Pikachu movie from Universal Pictures.

He will join Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton in the Rob Letterman-directed movie, which will start shooting in London in mid-January.

Justice Smith will be playing the son of a captured man, who joins up with a "sassy journalist" played by Newton and of course Detective Pikachu as they try and find the kindnapped man.  The Detective Pikachu role is believed to be live captured with additional animation work afterwards.

The film is of course based on the video game that still hasn't been released outside Japan, but you can watch a trailer and here the surprisingly gruff Pikachu below.
