Shigeru Miyamoto, loved and cherished by gamers worldwide, turns 60 today... and what a 60 years its been.
Miyamoto is responsible for such great franchises such as The Legend of Zelda, F-Zero, Pikmin, Donkey Kong and of course, Super Mario.
Miyamoto is known for setting trends and upending tea tables in the videogaming world, and has constantly pushed boundaries and revolutionised the way we play games.
All the way from the original Super Mario Bros. where you first stomp a Goomba to 2006's Wii Sports when the world was introduced to motion gaming, Miyamoto was there at the forefront changing the face of the industry.
And so it's with that in mind that we wish Miyamoto a great day and hope he gets knee deep in cake this evening. Here's to another 60 years of colourful plant aliens, angry gorillas and imaginary instruments.
