Silver Falls - White Inside Its Umbra, Launches This Month On The Wii U eShop

Silver Falls will release on the North American Nintendo eShop, and while we usually only report on things related to European Nintendo news, it felt worthy of a mention as it is highly likely that this is the last ever Wii U game, arriving 5 years after the discontinuation of the console itself.
The Wii U had a wonderful but hard life, boasting many classic and highly rated games but also suffering from dreadful sales and a somewhat confused existence. Nintendo were keen to pull support as soon as they got Breath of the Wild out the door in 2017, yet this sickly odd-ball ceases to give up the fight. Nearly 6 years later, the Wii U still shuffles along like a strong-willed zombie, yearning for just one last bite.
Unlike many peoples assumptions, Just Dance 2019 would not end up being the consoles last release and Nintendo’s ailing console even made it into the pandemic era with the 2020 release of Shakedown: Hawaii, but now it seems we truly have reached the final frontier with indie horror, Silver Falls.
The Nintendo Wii U gets an EXCLUSIVE new Survival Horror launching on the eShop February 2023! After pushing back launch a few months, Silver Falls - White Inside Its Umbra is finally ready!
This horror video game series on Nintendo consoles is about a mysterious, small mountain town haunted by decades of UFO activity.
Silver Falls – White Inside Its Umbra launches exclusively on the eShop. We're not sure whether a physical disc was ever planned, but it seems that is no longer an option anyway, as was revealed in this blogpost from the creators of Shakedown: Hawaii, discussing their experience bringing that title to the Wii and Wii U in 2020.
Although we've still seen some Wii releases over the past few years, seeing one more wasn't a given. Indeed, despite my best efforts, it just wasn't in cards anymore, at least, not for North America. However, as luck would have it, the doors hadn't quite closed yet with Nintendo of Europe, so it was still able see a release!
As incredibly as it all worked out, unfortunately, Wii discs aren't region-free, and I didn't want North American players to be left out. Although I continued talks with NOA, floating around a Plan B, Plan C... Plan Z, sadly, every idea hit a wall. The clock was ticking, and after exhausting all other options, I decided to pivot to the next best thing: the Wii U! So, I rushed against time to port Shakedown: Hawaii to Wii U as well, and get it through certification before that door could close too!
What a journey it has been! It seems that following the release of Silver Falls in North America later this month, the Wii U will be laid to rest for good. RIP Project Café.
