Site News: Big Changes for N-Europe

As you may have been aware we recently had some downtime. What you may not be aware of is why...

If you've been coming to the site for a number of years you may be aware of our history but for those unaware here it is briefly summarised; N-Europe was founded (under the name N64-Europe) just shy of 13 years ago. Five years ago one of the site's founders Tim Symons left the site in the hands of Conor Smyth to pursue a career in Nintendo (where he still is and is doing well for himself) and we joined Advanced Media Network who provided us with hosting, technical and financial support and much more. In recent weeks we have discussed this, as a whole, and AMN have graciously agreed to let us once again go independent.

This meant that we had to switch servers, which is what happened over the weekend. Hopefully everyone is back on board now (if you know someone whose still having issues feel free to contact me on [email protected]) but it can take up to 72 hours depending on your ISP. A great deal of thanks to the wonderful technical support of forum administrator Shorty who has worked flat out over the last few weeks to not only provide advice but also found us a server and helped with the transfer. We must also give a great deal of thanks to our new host Castus who have granted us a very generous deal and supported us during the transfer. We look forward to working with them in the future.

Of course we owe a great deal of gratitude to Advanced Media Network and Ken Cauley who has been an invaluable aid during our five years with AMN. He and his team have really helped us develop and grow during a difficult period and we really can't thank them enough. During the last five years we have frequently called upon Michael from Admin on Demand, who is hired by AMN to help with technical support, with a great variety of issues and he has always managed to solve them quickly and efficiently. Its safe to say we'd have had many more messes on our hands over the years if it wasn't for Michael.

Finally (I'm aware this is turning into an Oscars speech), gratitude needs to be bestowed upon the work of all staff during the history of N-Europe (under its many names) who have helped us get to where we are and all the visitors along the way. It is both of these groups who have helped nurture and ensure the continued success of N-Europe. I hope, as the current Editor-in-Chief, that you will continue to support us and help us grow during this exciting new time in N-Europe. We have many great things planned for the near future that we will share with you when we can. For now however please join me in thanking those above (including yourselves) and I hope to see you all around soon.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns you want to raise please do not hesitate to contact me on [email protected] and I will do my best to respond to them.
