Site News: Comment Function Disabled
Posted 28 Dec 2011 at 14:42 by Aaron Clegg
You may have noticed that we've switched off the comment function from articles; and it's likely you've worked out why.
Over the past few weeks, the problem with spam bots filling up our pages with various amazing commercial offers - that someone somewhere might appreciate - has gotten out of hand. We've always had spam make its way in the comments section, but we've thus far managed to deal with it fairly efficiently. Lately however, the influx has been unprecedented, and it's unfair for you the reader to have it shoved in your face.
So rather than to persist with various ad-hoc and temporary fixes to sweep the problem under the rug until the next day, we've decided to focus on developing a permanent solution. The comment function as you know it will be disabled until such a system can be implemented. We can't say when the function will be back, but know that we're flicking the off switch for now so we can fully focus on doing what you visit N-E for: bringing you all the latest Nintendo-related happenings uninterrupted by spam.
We wholeheartedly apologise for any inconvenience caused, and for the problem that you've had to witness as much as we have. However, there are still several ways you can react to all the news. Every headline you'll read on N-E is also featured on our own Twitter and Facebook feeds. We also have a dedicated board on the N-E forum that has all our articles on. You'll notice a link at the bottom of every article that takes you there, so feel free to sign up for a forum account and comment away.
We hope to have the comment function back as soon as possible, but in the meantime, why write when you can play all those swanky new games you got for Christmas?
