European Club Nintendo members might want to check their inboxes this morning, as a select few have been given the opportunity to order a special 'Ambassador Edition' of the forthcoming New Nintendo 3DS - and own it before anyone else.

Those who got the email have been given a link to the official Nintendo store, where they can place an order for a bundle including a white New 3DS system (standard size), with special 'Ambassador' faceplates, a 4GB SD card, charging cradle, and a set of Super Smash Bros. faceplates too. The bundle is available for £179.99 / €199.99.

However, if you received the email and are eligible, you need to get your order in before the end of January 12th.

There's still no official general release date for the New Nintendo 3DS or New Nintendo 3DS XL, but hopefully this is a sign that it's close. The New 3DS is an upgrade over the 3DS, giving it a second circle pad, additional shoulder buttons, and beefier technical specs. The standard size version also has removable faceplates.
