Star Fox Zero delayed to 2016

Nintendo this morning announced that Star Fox Zero for Wii U has been delayed until the first quarter of 2016.

The game received its full reveal at this year's E3, and was later given a release date of November 20th.

However, producer Shigeru Miyamoto said in a statement that the development team could technically release the game this year, but would prefer extra time to work on "the unprecedented discovery that we want players to experience in the game by using two screens, and further polishing the level designs and perfecting the tone of the cut scenes."

Miyamoto-san apologised to those who were disappointed by the delay, but assured players that the Star Fox Zero will go "far beyond the framework established by Star Fox 64".

Star Fox Zero is being co-developed by Bayonetta and Vanquish developer Platinum Games.

It was not the only big Wii U game out at the end of this year, and Nintendo's holiday schedule still consists of Project Zero 5 (October 30th), Mario Tennis Ultra Smash (November 20th), Xenoblade Chronicles X (December 4th), and Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival (TBA).
