Super Mario Run heading to iOS

For years some fans have suggested Nintendo put their games on mobiles and investors have long requested it.  We've had Miitomo and in a way Pokémon Go (although that is technically from The Pokémon Company) but now Nintendo has unveiled their first mobile game - Super Mario Run.

While the name evokes the endless runner genre, it is in fact slightly different.  Running is handled automatically, with players jumping by pressing on the screen, but there are different levels and worlds.  There is also a battle mode, which is more in line with traditional endless runners, and a mode in which you create your own Mushroom Kingdom based upon your play results.

The title will be out in December exclusively on iOS devices for the time being.  A free portion of the game will be available and players can get the full game for a set price.

A Mario sticker set for iMessenger will be coming out later this month too.

Of course Nintendo did announce a while ago that Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing would be heading to mobile devices too, presumably Android and iOS, as part of their deal with DeNA.  We have since learnt that these have been delayed until next year.

Update

Nintendo has confirmed that Super Mario Run will come to Android, but has given no timeframe.
