The latest spirit event for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate goes live today, for the next five days you can get spirits from the Kunio-kun (River City Ransom) series.

Those of you who remember playing on the original NES or even titles from the Virtual Console service on the Wii, 3DS or Wii U will probably remember any number of River City Ransom titles which were released as part of the digital service; these days you're probably more likely to have heard of the excellent River City Girls which is effectively a reimagining of the series or even River City Melee Mach!! Which is a fighting game featuring over one-hundred-and-eighty characters from both River City and Renegade series' alike.

The 45th Spirits Event will go live on January 24th: “River City Smash”. While it’s running, brand new Spirits from the River City series will appear, and beating them will allow you to earn more Gold than usual! (available until January 29)
