Tatsumi Kimishima to step down as Nintendo President

Current Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima is stepping aside in June to be replaced by Shuntaro Furukawa, current outside Director of the Pokémon Company and also holds a number of titles within Nintendo internally as well.

Mr. Kimishima took over in 2015 after the tragic death of Satoru Iwata, and has overseen Nintendo bouncing back from the dissapointment of the Wii U console era to the much more successful Switch, which has continually broken sales records around the world.

The move from Mr Kimishima, who will still stay on at Nintendo in an advisory role, who is 68 to Mr Furukawa who is 46, perhaps signifies a shift to a younger generation of thinking at Nintendo now that the Japanese giant's ship has been stabled by Mr. Kimishima.

In Europe, President Satoru Shibata is to leave his post as head of NOE to return to Japan and play a bigger role at Nintendo's HQ in Kyoto.

This story is breaking and will be updated with more details when we get them.
