The special Nintendo Direct dedicated to The Wonderful 101 has just finished, and the end of the broadcast brought the surprise news that the game will have a demo released on the eShop at 4pm BST / 5pm CET today.

With studio Platinum Games earlier teasing an 'extra' announcement at the end of the Direct, some speculated that a demo for the game might get a stealth release on the Wii U eShop after the presentation finished. Game director Hideki Kamiya had previously voiced a desire to see a demo given a general release.

Hideki Kamiya himself was the one to present the Direct, and it was a superb show. We'll have it in full as soon as Nintendo uploads it.
