The funeral of Satoru Iwata took place, and it was estimated over 4000 people have travelled to visit the late Nintendo president's resting place in Kyoto.
The funeral service this morning was attended by Nintendo colleagues such as Shigeru Miyamoto, Eiji Aonuma, Reggie Fils-Aime, and Masahiro Sakurai. Other notable figures from the industry included Star Fox collaborator Dylan Cuthbert, Sonic Team's Yuji Naka, and Platinum Games's Hideki Kamiya.
Thousands more people visited the Kyoto temple over the week.
On social media today, Nintendo of America tweeted "We will honor his memory by putting smiles on people's faces. Mr. Iwata inspired us all & had the heart of a gamer." Nintendo of Europe tweeted "Mr Iwata will be dearly missed by all of us but we will strive to build upon the amazing legacy he leaves behind. Please understand that you are the best fans in the world."
In the interim period before a new CEO is chosen, Nintendo will be lead by Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda.
Satoru Iwata died earlier this week of cholangiocarcinoma at the age of 55.
