Wii Mini revealed, launches December 7th

There were rumours flying around the Internet earlier today of a new-look Wii but now it's official as Nintendo have confirmed that the Wii Mini will release this December.

The Wii Mini is set to launch on December 7th exclusively in Canada for a mere $99. Sadly, Nintendo can't reveal whether the new-look Wii will be available elsewhere just yet.

The Wii Mini features a manual top-loading disc tray, much like the GameCube. Sadly though, you won't be able to play GameCube games as, much like last years slight re-design, the Wii Mini will not feature GameCube support.

More surprisingly though is the lack of Wi-Fi capabilities, meaning you won't be able to play games online or enjoy Nintendo's great Virtual Console service, which is a Wii feature N-Europe are very fond of.

The console will come in matte black with a red border and comes packaged with a red MotionPlus controller and Nunchuk.

Despite not being compatible with the Internet and missing out on hundreds of great Virtual Console and WiiWare titles, Nintendo of Canada's vice president and general manager, Ron Bertram, is still sure that there are games for everyone thanks to the Wii library which spans over 1,400 disc-based titles.

"There are games in the Wii library for every type of player. Wii Mini is a great gift for the holidays that brings everyone in the family together to play. Wii Mini has a mini price."

What do you make of the Wii Mini? Do you hope it gets released in Europe? Or are its lack of features a turn off? Let us know your thoughts below.
