Wii U advert banned in the UK

The Wii U has been out in the UK for a few months now but there hasn't been much in the way of TV advertising, now though, it seems we know why.

The initial advert is apparently misleading to some consumers as it claims that you can switch the action from the TV screen to the Wii U GamePad. Whilst this feature is available on a lot of titles, and was shown in action with one of the compatible titles, the ASA believe that it wasn't clear enough to consumers that only some games make use of this feature.

Nintendo didn't believe that the advert was misleading. According to the ASA website, Nintendo believe that the general consumer would know that the feature isn't available for every game.

"They said it was correct that some games would not include this feature but they had no control over how third-party software developers used the capabilities of their console. They did not believe that the ad required qualification as they did not believe the average consumer viewing the ad would believe the feature was available on all games."

The advert is now banned in its current form. Scroll down to see the advert for yourself, do you find it misleading?
