Wii U system update arrives next week along with Panorama view and Virtual Console

Today's Nintendo Direct was quite something yet it wasn't all about the 3DS as the Wii U is set to get some attention next week, too.

The promised firmware update is finally upon us and is quite impressive indeed. Along with improved loading times, which had been promised by Iwata long ago, is the arrival of the Virtual Console and Wii U Panorama View.

The Virtual Console will arrive next week and those that have purchased some of the '30 days for 30 cents' titles will know what to expect. Virtual Console games will be playable on the GamePad alone if you so wish and each come with their own Miiverse communities. Downloading games will be a lot easier after the update, as downloads will continue even when the console is switched off.

Wii U Panorama View is also set to arrive with the update next week and will allow you to view an array of exciting things, such as a parade and gliding through the sky, in any view you please. By moving the Wii U GamePad around the room, you'll change the angle of the camera, all of which takes place in real-time with the video.

Certain videos for Panorama View will be available to purchase whilst all gamers will be able to try out a demo of the service for free.

What are you most looking forward to from next weeks Wii U update? Let us know your thoughts.
