Looks like Playtonic managed to get the Switch version of Yooka-Laylee out this year after all!
Just freshly announced via Playtonic's Twitter page, the game arrives on Switch on December 14th. Yooka and Laylee come wrapped up in a nice, shiny digital package for your shiny new Nintendo console/handheld hybrid, just in time for Xmas!
In an interview with Nintendo Life, Gavin Price of Playtonic mentions that, while the game is to be released as an eShop exclusive title intitially, "we haven’t ruled out doing a physical release in future and would strive to make sure it would have added value which takes time to get right". He also confirms that the game runs in 900p resolution while docked and 600p resolution while playing in handheld mode and that the game comes with all the patches and updates that the game has had since launch on other platforms, as well as single-Joy-Con support across the game's eight multiplayer minigames.
Are you a Kickstarter backer, eagerly awaiting your Switch eShop code? Did you buy it on other platforms all those months ago? Or are you perhaps a Switch fan who's interested in another 3D collectathon platformer after ploughing through Super Mario Odyssey?
