Zelda signals the end for Wii U

Reggie has confirmed that Zelda will be the Wii U's last breath (of the wild) but has assured avid Wii U fans that online services for things such as Splatoon and Miiverse will continue for the foreseeable future.
It only feels like yesterday we were all eagerly anticipating the Wii U(whilst the general public were perplexed/indifferent) yet it seems the systems wild ride is finally over.
The console has given us plenty of wonderful games, some such as Mario Kart and Smash Bros. arguably being the best in their franchise history but it has also greeted us with some lonely months of droughts and uncertainty.
It should come as no surprise to most then that the Wii U is finally coming to a close. After production of the console stopped late last year, the final batch of systems are in stores now, whilst Reggie has confirmed that Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be the last first party game for the system.
Unlike the rather brutal end to the Wii and all of its online services, Reggie was happy to assure us that things like Miiverse, Mario Kart and Splatoon will continue to be online for the foreseeable future, something regular Wii U gamers will no doubt be happy to hear.
With third party releases already at a bare minimum and indie developers dropping like flies, this could be the last big release for the system but it doesn't mean there will not be anything else. In October of last year, the original Wii saw the release of Just Dance 2017, so casual players of the system may still have some titles to look forward to yet.
