Zelda Wii U set to skip 2015

The Legend of Zelda for Wii U is set to miss its original release window of 2015 following "new ideas" springing from the development team, the game's producer Eiji Aonuma has announced.

A 2015 release was originally pledged for the game following its initial reveal last year. However, in an announcement to fans, Aonuma said that the team was "no longer making a 2015 release our number one priority", and would instead take the time it needed to fulfil the game's ambitions.

Furthermore, Nintendo of America also revealed that the game would not be making an appearance at this year's E3 show.

The Legend of Zelda was set to be a tentpole Wii U release in 2015, although the console does still have some big-hitters in Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon, and the prospect of a new Star Fox.
