Its snowtime again. 1080 is back...
On the Nintendo 64 1080 was a huge hit. The sequel 1080 Avalanche has been in development for a few years now and it looks to continue where the original and first 3-D snowboarding game started.
Amazing visuals and on-spot controls created a sense of beauty about the first game. Crystal Lake, Golden Forest and Deadly Falls look set to be amoung the courses which return in Avalanche (as well as the onspot controls and amazing visuals).
What else can we expect from the return of one of the most wanted games in recent years? Well, how about ice patches and powder drifts. Cool, sounds easy doesn't it. Straight forward. Not this time.
1080 Avalanche isn't called this because Nintendo had a bad staff meeting. Avalanches, rockslides, cave-ins, bridge collapses and environments teeming with other skiers and wildlife all want to make your racing that little bit more difficult. Infact, with so much going on. Why would you want to snowboard? Simply because 1080 Avalanche is going to be a superb game that will fulfill us with the emptyness we have so longed to fill since the depature of the last installment.
A unique balancing system allows the player to keep your character on his or her board. Taking advantage of the GameCube controller as you power slide yourself down the slope at speeds over 100kmph. Which is quite fast considering your standing on a wooden board. It all adds to what seems to be a more advanced and 'better' 1080 than the original. Its like growing old with grace. Only this time with snow. With a bigger catalogue of adrenaline kicking tricks and mulitplayer options. 1080 Avalanche is shaping up to be the best racing game on snow. Or maybe even ever.
