Preview: Mission Impossible: Operation Surma

Once again Mission Impossible is back (but surely if the mission really was impossible then there wouldn't be any sequels, try Mission Improbable, yeah that could work!) and this time it's Operation Suma. So your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to get your butt into action and read the latest preview of the ever popular MI series.

Guys you needn't worry, as your girls won't be over your shoulders looking for the ugly mug of Tom Cruise, because simply, he's not in it. No more will they be crooning over his long flowing locks, or his bright eyes. Atari have had to come up with some other random face as Ethan Hunt to promote this game. In my opinion he still looks like TC but with shorter hair, and even uglier than before, so go Atari, you're doing well!

The story behind the game is as complex as ever (yeah right). A downright dirty scoundrel, commonly known as Algo, has created the most evil of evil plans; create and unleash a deadly virus into every computer that has ever been created. This is a lot of computers, but somehow he can reach this goal, unless Mr Hunt can stop him. Only time will tell.

Obviously as a Member of the IMF you are provided with the funkiest of all gadgets. One very intriguing gadget is the Remote Controlled Wasp Cam. This handy little camera is used to getting to places that you couldn't usually unless you were the size of say a fly or a wasp. It also helps when a room is full of guards and u want to see what's going on or how they plan on killing an un-suspecting spy they may come across. The crazy thing about this fun little flying beast is that it packs a fun, but painful electronic stinger, just in case somebody tries to swat it.

For added fun you have also been supplied with a pair of digital binoculars. What are digital binoculars? Well simply these allow you to record voices, scan and identify objects as well as other people, and for pure gaming luxury, it's also a allows you to take digital photo's, what more could you want?! Ok yes, maybe an MP3 player, but with the danger money your on for doing these missions, you can just buy your own.

Now where would a good spy be without his trusty hands and feet? Admittedly he wouldn't be able to walk or pick anything up, but what I mean is, where would they be without their martial arts skills, that they all posses? Well it would seem we don't have to worry as Ethan is prepared with all sorts of deadly moves. One of his favourites is the lovely and often fun sneak attack. You slowly sneak up to your foe and slap on a chokehold that even the WWE wrestlers would be proud of. Now you can use this position as you like, you can snap their neck and out they go, but you can also use this for something known as 'gentle persuasion'. Grab them and they become yours, you can use them to get you items or past certain areas that contain invisible lasers.

So it would seem that Atari have really thought about this game, they have taken a nice combination from the already popular stealth games out there applying all of the best bits from them and have also improved upon them in certain situations. In certain games you could hide, but before you could attack you had to separate your hug from the wall to get in a stance to attack a guard. So now not only can you hide behind a wall in the dark, but now you can hide behind a wall in the dark and actually hit the guard passing you at that time without moving from that spot and only at the press of one button.

Surprisingly not much else is known but hopefully it will be a decent game worth considering once it's released.
