Review: I and Me

If The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an intense, story driven epic that demands hours of our time to make any sort of head way in it, then I and Me, developed by Wish Fang and published by Rataliaka, is the perfect antidote to such a game; it's a bright, breezy, pick up and play game with a delightful concept and charming art direction that is well worth spending an hour or two with in between saving Hyrule or splatting in Inkopolis.
Indeed, having both Splatoon 2 and this to review at the same time, I found myself in an incredibly rewarding position. I was able to enjoy the next big release for the Switch and all the exciting fan fare that comes with that, and then to unwind after I was able to enjoy what feels like an incredibly personal experience with the cats of I and Me.
It's like playing a painting and owning two cats all in one... sort of. What's not to love?
That's right, cats. Two cats, to be precise. Who are both controlled using the same analogue stick and move at exactly the same time. It's a simple concept, to complete a level you have to get them both into a picture frame at the same time. What starts out simple obviously becomes more tricky as the game goes on, requiring you to use the environment and your surroundings to either move the cats further apart or bring them closer together, to achieve your goals for each level.
The game is presented in an almost story book manner, with charming, well suited piano based music and simple yet effective graphics. The game itself is quite short, I was finished with it in about two hours or so, and yet there are collectibles to make a second play through worthwhile.
"Cryptic" clues are displayed on signs posted within the level. Now to decipher this one. Hmm...
If you're predominantly using your Switch as a home console it makes it more difficult to recommend this game, however as a portable title to keep you entertained on a commute or journey I can whole heartedly recommend I and Me as a lovely bit of fun that, while never engrossing you for long periods of time, is definitely a fun pick up and play title from the eShop.
N-Europe Final Verdict
I and Me dares to fly in the face of bigger titles by offering an original offering which will likely entertain you on the go. Be sure to enter into it as a quirky, quick title to play here and there; then you really can't go far wrong with this fine feline-based title.
