All the latest News, Reviews and Features from Nintendo
All N64 Games #184: Super Smash Bros.
Considering it’s humble beginnings, I don’t think Nintendo ever expected Super Smash Bros. to be such an important part of its line-up of games on future consoles.

All N64 Games #183: J.League Tactics Soccer
J.League Tactics Soccer is a Japanese-only football management game. So a ton of text, figures and sitting and watching.

All N64 Games #182: Vivid Dolls
A game running on Seta’s N64-based Aleck 64 arcade cabinet, this is something that Nintendo probably wouldn’t have allowed on the N64 itself – a porn game.

All N64 Games #181: BattleTanx
In the future year of 2001, a virus will ravage the Earth and have a 98% death rate amongst “females”. The governments of the world tried to create “quarantine zones” to protect the “females”.

All N64 Games #180: Japan Pro Wrestling: Toukon Road 2: Next Generation
An update to the previous Japanese-only wrestling game. This seems to have more features and the presentation is even nicer.

All N64 Games #179: Big Mountain 2000
1080° is built from quality stuff, Snowboard Kids is a lot of fun and Twisted Edge is dodgy, but has a few almost neat ideas. Big Mountain 2000, however, is just completely bland.

All N64 Games #178: Chameleon Twist 2
The first Chameleon Twist was a game with interesting but fiddly moves that weren’t used to their full potential, so I was hoping that the sequel would fix these issues.

Resort King 64 is a digital board game that is heavily based on one of the worst board games of all time: Monopoly.

All N64 Games #176: Goemon’s Great Adventure
While this was called “Mystical Ninja 2 Starring Goemon”, I’ll be sticking with the US name of “Goemon’s Great Adventure” as it’s very different from the first game

All N64 Games #175: South Park
When it comes to replaying old games, the worst ones to get through aren’t the bad games, but rather those that are just immensely boring, and unfortunately South Park is one of the most boring games I’ve ever played

All N64 Games #174: Mario Party
The start of one of Mario’s most successful – and most plentiful in terms of games – spin-offs. Mario Party is a board game combined with a large amount of minigames. The first one is the simplest, but sometimes simple can be best.

All N64 Games #173: AI Shoghi 3
The AI Shogi series had yearly releases from 1996 to 1998, each one being on a different platform: the 3DO, PlayStation and then N64.

All N64 Games #172: Virtual Pool 64
Virtual Pool 64 doesn’t have a fancy title because is isn’t anything fancy. Instead, it focuses on recreating the game of pool as well as possible.

All N64 Games #171: Hey You, Pikachu!
Hey You, Pikachu! took almost two years to make it from Japan to the USA, and never came out in Europe. This was mainly due to the Voice Recognition Unit that came with the game – which is essentially a microphone were you could say words for Pikachu to understand.

All N64 Games #170: Doraemon 2: Nobita and the Temple of Light
While the first N64 Doraemon game was a 3D platformer, this is more like Goemon: a game with an overworld and dungeons, but the dungeons being more focused on platforming when compared to Zelda.

All N64 Games #169: Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
Turok makes a return, and in this one Iguana seemed to have listened to some complaints of the first one and paid some attention to GoldenEye.

All N64 Games #168: FIFA 99
While a lot of sports games, even in the N64 era, feel like iterations of the same game, the FIFA games on N64 are surprisingly distinct.

All N64 Games #167: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Rogue Squadron is a ship combat game, but goes for controls that are much easier to get to grips with than the more simulation-like X-Wing/TIE Fighter series.

All N64 Games #166: V-Rally: Edition 99
The graphics are very impressive for the N64, with the road itself having a lot of detail, cars that don’t look like boxes and good trackside detail.

All N64 Games #165: S.C.A.R.S.
SCARS stands for Super Computer Animal Racing Simulator. While it does seem like a random assortment of words to spell a “cool” word, the game is built around the concept of a computer simulation and the cars are all based on animals.
